Job Description

A Housekeeping Staff member is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall appearance of residential, commercial, or hospitality facilities. They ensure that rooms, common areas, and workspaces are clean, organized, and comfortable for guests, customers, or occupants. Their attention to detail, efficiency, and commitment to high cleanliness standards contribute to creating a safe and welcoming environment.

Housekeeping staff perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, cleaning bathrooms, changing bed linens, making beds, and replenishing toiletries and other supplies. They inspect rooms and facilities to ensure they meet quality standards and report any maintenance issues or damaged equipment to the appropriate department.

In addition to cleaning duties, housekeeping staff properly handle cleaning chemicals and equipment, follow health and safety regulations, and maintain an organized storage area for supplies. They work efficiently while respecting the privacy of guests and residents, ensuring every area is cleaned thoroughly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and furniture.
  • Make beds, change bed linens, and replace towels.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, and other facilities.
  • Replenish toiletries, cleaning supplies, and room amenities.
  • Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly.
  • Report maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety hazards.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products safely.
  • Follow hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment at all times.
